What is the MIDS Neck Lift™

The MIDS Neck Lift™ is a neck sculpting and tightening procedure that uses a small, hidden incision to treat multiple layers of the neck. Unlike regular neck or under-chin liposuction that only removes surface fat, the MIDS Neck Lift is a more comprehensive procedure that also addresses deeper layers.

The neck has several layers: the outer layer (skin and surface fat), the platysma muscle (a thin muscle covering most of the front of the neck), and deeper structures (like deeper fat, digastric muscles, and submandibular glands). The platysma muscle can sag and the deeper structures can add fullness to the neck, varying from person to person.

The MIDS Neck Lift treats all these layers through a small incision under the chin, which heals well and is usually not noticeable. It reduces surface fat with liposuction or surgical scissors, tightens the platysma muscle, and sculpts the deeper structures. If needed, this can include reducing deeper fat, reshaping the digastric muscles, and trimming the submandibular glands. Additional maneuvers can also be performed, such as horizontal fasciotomy and transverse platysmal myototomy, to further improve the sharpness of the cervicomental angle.

The Plus version of this procedure (MIDS Plus Neck Lift) adds an extra incision in the crease behind the ear, which is very well-hidden. This allows for extra contouring at the posterior region of the jawline near the earlobe.

When deciding between liposuction or the MIDS Neck Lift, one has to consider the overall goal and cause of neck fullness. If fullness is mostly from surface fat, liposuction alone may provide excellent results. However, individuals whose submental fullness is mainly due to deeper fat or deeper structures, or those individuals who desire the greatest improvement, would benefit from the MIDS Neck Lift.

What Are the Benefits of the MIDS Neck Lift with Dr. Foulad?

Platysmaplasty and Deep Sculpting: The MIDS Neck Lift goes beyond the reduction of fat; it delivers comprehensive results with treatment of multiple tissue layers and tightening of the platysma muscle.

Customized Contours and Profile: The high degree of customization and targeted treatment capable with a MIDS Neck Lift enables superior refinement of the neck and jawline. It enables the greatest improvement of the cervicomental angle (angle between the neck and chin when viewed from the side), without overly thinning the skin and precious subcutaneous fat.

Minimal Incisions: In most cases, only one incision concealed under the chin is required to achieve superior results with the MIDS Neck Lift.

Facial Plastic Surgery Expertise: Dr. Foulad holds certifications from the American Board of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ABOHNS), as well as the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (ABFPRS) To sustain these board certifications, surgeons must demonstrate proficiency in emerging techniques that maximize surgical outcomes and improve patient safety.

Top-Tier Patient Care and Convenience: Our offices are in the prestigious Lasky Clinic in Beverly Hills, this world-renowned destination for plastic surgery, is also where Dr. Foulad performs his surgical and liposuction procedures.

Who are the candidates for a MIDS Neck Lift?

Ideal candidates for the MIDS Neck Lift™ are individuals who have good skin elasticity and do not have a significant amount of loose skin. The most common age of patients undergoing this procedure is 25 to 40 years old, however Dr. Foulad has occasionally performed this procedure on patients outside this age range depending on the specifics of the case. It is necessary to have good skin elasticity as the procedure does not remove excess skin.
